Conciliatory move comes ahead of Trump-Kim summit.

In what many are calling a win for US President Donald Trump’s tough approach to North Korea, the communist state says they will release three US citizens held prisoner in the country.

As first reported by the Financial times, a South Korean activist said the detainees would be released, something backed up by former New York City Mayor and current member of Trump’s legal team Rudy Giuliani.

The detained Americans are Kim Dong Chul, Kim Hak-song and Kim Sang Duk.

US National Security Advisor John Bolton had called for the release of the three detainees ahead of Trump’s meeting with Kim Jong-Un.
