No, we shouldn’t bring back widespread masking as COVID and flu season come around once again despite what Dr. Tam says.

Are you ready to start wearing a mask everywhere you go once again? Canada’s chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam thinks you should.

“Now is the time to get your masks ready,” Tam said during a Tuesday news conference.

Tam reappeared on Tuesday along with a bevy of other doctors and health professionals to announce that Canada had approved the latest COVID-19 vaccine from Moderna.

“Preliminary clinical data have shown promising immune responses,” Tam said of the new COVID vaccine, one she said should be considered more like an annual flu shot than as a booster.

As Tam and the other doctors participated in the news conference, it was notable that they were all masked and sitting very far apart. It looked like something straight out of late 2020 before we had vaccines, before we knew what we do now.
