Former NDP MLA Gwen O’Mahony will be running under the B.C. Conservative party’s banner in the next provincial election this year.
She served as an NDP MLA for Chilliwack—Hope from 2012 to 2013 after winning a byelection and will now represent Nanaimo—Lanzville as the Conservative candidate in the riding.
In a video posted on X by the Conservative Party of B.C., O’Mahony announced why she no longer supports the provincial NDP government of British Columbia. She said the NDP has changed, not her.
Strategically might make sense, Nanaimo is an NDP stronghold, AKA Surrey by the Sea!
Which means she will get Philpott/Raybold’ed as her ex-party will triple-down on that riding and throw endless money and personnel to make sure she never, EVER wins it… Though it would be a lot easier to just rig that riding like they did in Cambridge during the last Ontario election (They got away with it in Ontario since it was the usual big money establishment party that won it, so no one ever asked or allowed to ask the obvious questions).
