December 5th, 2024: “A motion moved by the New Democratic Party or NDP for the recognition of the violence against Sikhs in India in 1984 as a ‘genocide’ failed to be passed by a Parliamentary committee, on Thursday.”

As a microcosm for the current condition of Canadian society, they don’t get much better than this. Contemporary Canada is up-to-its-eyeballs in political and social consternation. From Islamic militancy based on war in Gaza to protests in the streets regarding Sikh-Khalistani-Hindu political discord, the detrimental impact of mass immigration to our country is thus revealed.

It’s under these conditions that New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh has chosen to put his efforts into an historical incident wholly devoid of “Cancon”– Canadian content. Why so-called genocidal incidents ten thousand miles from Canadian soil should take precedent remains a mystery.

“From October 31 to November 3, 1984, thousands of Sikhs throughout India were hunted and murdered by mobs following the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Why this is critical to North American society is anyone’s guess. Why, at this juncture in time, the incident is top-of-mind for Jagmeet Singh strikes CAP as an absurdity. Did the incident take place in Canada? No. The degree to which the event is pertinent for the 98.5% of Canadians who do not derive from Sikh communities stands at nothing.
