How Many Times Have We To Be Told That Breaking Agreements With Partners Is Not The Way To Keep A Friendship ?

Once again another important American has called out Canada  on its violation of the NATO Agreement. That being a freeloader does not work. You agreed over 10 years ago to get to 2% of GDP on defence and you still have not reached that commitment.

In a news piece in Politico Richard Litghthizer, former Trump Trade boss in Trump’s first term , was asked to speak to Canada ‘s Conservative Party.

No surprise ——-what he said .

The headline of the article reads :

“Lighthizer gives private trade-war advice to Canada’s conservatives

The pro-tariff former USTR told Canadians to spend more on defense and partner with the U.S. against China.”

Later in the article the former US trade representative said:

“We have to get to the point where the United States moves towards balanced trade,” he said. “There’s a million ways to look at this, but the economies of most of the world are growing because of our trade deficit, and that can’t go on forever.”

And then he said :

“But Canada, he said, has to stop stalling on increasing its defense spending. The country has failed to meet the NATO target of 2 percent of GDP, which Trump has said should be 5 percent.

Canada does not … pay a share on national defense,” he said. ”And that’s quite unfair.”

I think the mouse needs to listen to the elephant.

Our false arrogance and snobbery has to stop.

And  it looks like the Liberals , Conservatives , NDP —and lame pro Liberal Green Elizabeth May are not up to the task.

Do you think if a world war broke out tomorrow the incompetents of UK, France or Germany , who can’t even do a good Ukraine battle on their own Continent without the US, will help out Canada ?? They have neither the will or the armaments.
