Release from National Citizens Coalition

September 24, 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Toronto ON) —

We wish we were kidding.

During yesterday’s special parliamentary session attended by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the House gave a standing ovation to a 98-year-old Ukrainian immigrant who fought in a Third Reich military formation known for war crimes.

The “First Ukrainian Division” – the 14th SS Division Galicia, was a Nazi unit made up of Ukrainian soldiers.

Yet, in the eyes of those who are ignorant of history, solely because he fought the Russians, he was worthy of invitation and praise by the Trudeau government.

Such shortsightedness — and I hope it’s just that — is frankly appalling, and a deep insult to Jewish Canadians, our Veterans, the Greatest Generation, and the very principles our nation was founded upon.

We’ve seen out-of-touch governments before, but never like this. Any other prime minister, particularly one polling at 22%, would be forced to resign. This latest act of anti-Semitism from inside the Liberal-NDP ranks cannot stand.

Here at the National Citizens Coalition, we’re demanding a full inquiry into this unforgivable act, as well as full statements and apologies from *all* parties in attendance.

But, most of all, we’re asking Canada’s disgraced prime minister to finally take accountability for his latest insult to the Canada we hold dear.

Enough is enough, Justin. You’re out of touch — and out of time.

It’s time to start planning that walk in the snow.
