It was a sight to behold. The Glenn L. Martin Mars flying boat was not only the largest seaplane ever manufactured by the United States, but it even had a galley, showers, sleeping rooms for a crew of 13, and could carry about 300 passengers. Though capable of transporting record-breaking loads for long ranges, World War 2 would eventually hinder its production, and only six of them were built. Still, they played a pivotal role during the Korean War as long-range cargo aircraft.   1. These planes should STILL be putting out forest fires in BC.
    They are the best pieces of forest fire fighting equipment in BC today, for fires near a body of water.
    ie. the Okanagan.

    Putting them in museums…and letting BC burn.
    Criminal investigations need to be launched all the way back to when the Mars BC contract was not renewed.

  2. Let’s face it, the Mars is long in the tooth. Parts for the fuselage and the big radials are getting harder to get and the maintenance hours are astronomical. Those big jugs on the radials are subject to shock cooling given the flight profile of the Mars and hours spent on those babies is cost-prohibitive enough.
    The BC government should really be considering using the Russian Beriev Be-200 turbojet powered seaplane.
    Can dump 12,000 litres, sure, half of a Mars but still useful in a “near body of water capable of skimming” situation. Agument the Be-200 with the already available ATR turboprops, the water-skimming Turboprop FireBosses, and some Thrush Switchbacks (replenished from the ground but very short Take Off and Landing capabilites) and, including all the rotary winged aircraft already out there, you have a pretty substantial forest fire fighting cabability from the air.

    Oh, yeah. And bring back slash burning, like we used to have before all the carbon-cult-obsessed freaks got their way in government.

  3. If forest fires can be put out successfully using the Mars Bombers, the BS Climate Change hoax won’t be believed by the normies. So, the Mars were put on the shelf, so BC could burn.
