Swathes of North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia have been devastated by Hurricane Helene and floods that have led to the deaths of 184 people at this time. Search and rescue missions are ongoing amid water and food shortages. Many areas have power blackouts.

On Wednesday, the Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is essentially broke. He said, “We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have. We are expecting another hurricane hitting,” said Mayorkas, adding “FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season.” The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has spent close to $1 billion on the “Shelter and Services Program” for illegal aliens [$640 million in 2024 and $364 million in 2023] to “enable non-federal entities to off-set allowable costs incurred for services associated with noncitizen migrant arrivals in their communities.” Last week, it was reported that the US gave Israel $8.7 billion in military aid, $8 billion in military aid for Ukraine, and $567 million in military support for Taiwan. As of April, more than $174 billion in American tax dollars have been appropriated to assist Ukraine.
