“If Khalistan is to be made, it is in Canada, never in India.”

“They want a country for themselves. I would say if Canada wants them to be there and they are so kind to them, Canada is a huge country. Give a space to them, call it Khalistan,” stated Indian High Commissioner to Canada Sanjay Verma.

He affirmed that “if Khalistan is to be made, it is in Canada, never in India.”

So let it be written, so let it be done? Regardless of plausibility, the roots of the Canada-India-Punjab-Sikh-Khalistan political journey can be directly attributed to the Liberal Party of Canada.

According to Canadian media publication The Hill Times, “the conflict over Khalistan dates back to 1982, when Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi expressed concerns to Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Justin Trudeau’s father, regarding Canada’s leniency towards Khalistan supporters.”
